Daily Science Report: Sunday Jan 22nd.

We completed a Jason elevator recovery at ~2am and we concluded dive (953)/traverse at 10am, with Jason on deck about 12:00 noon. We recovered 72 samples in total from our nearly 1 km (vertical) traverse, nearly all of which are gabbro. We are currently orienting, cutting & describing them. Interestingly, most of the gabbros are relatively monotonous in composition. Nearly all of the samples are oriented and a plagioclase foliation is common. At 2pm, we launched Sentry again for another survey, this time, nearly to the bottom of the deep.
